Raised in Los Angeles, Shayan Motamedi has worked in multiple industries, including education and healthcare. A successful entrepreneur, Shayan Motamedi has helped UCLA business students launch their own companies.
Mr. Motamedi was in education from 2005 to 2008, when he was first a teaching assistant for the LA-based Kumon, an after-school math and reading program. In 2007 he traveled to Japan, where he taught English to high school and college students and adults.
In 2015, Shayan Motamedi became co-owner of the medical testing company MegaMed Clinical Laboratories. This company specialized in complex chemistry, immunoassay, COVID-19, and other testing. He also launched the lifestyle company One-of-a-Kind (1OAK) Rentals in 2018. This venture offers clients personalized service, access to top-of-the-line vehicles, and luxury lifestyle experiences.
Shayan Motamedi has since drawn upon these efforts to help others as a consultant. In this role, he worked with a group of student entrepreneurs at UCLA, helping them win the UCLA MBA 2022 Entrepreneurship Excellence Capstone Award.
Mr. Motamedi’s educational credentials include a bachelor’s degree in Languages and Cultures (with a Japanese concentration) at California State University, Northridge, and an MBA from UCLA's Anderson School of Management. He has also volunteered with community organizations such as the College Placement Project and its spinoff, the College Moms Project.
